Visit to Almedahls, Sweden

For as long as I can remember New House have gone to Almedahls to produce many of our roller blinds, homewares and to print our designs. They are real experts.

Based in the small Swedish town of Kinna just 30 minutes from Gothenburg, Almedahls began production in 1846 so must be one of the longest running Swedish textile producers. I never tire of visiting their plant and seeing what is being produced.

Last week a two-colour leaf design for curtains was on their rotary screen printer.

In their fabric warehouse I came across a pallet of 1555m of Grand Colonial fabric that had just arrived from the weaver. After inspection, bleaching and coating it will eventually land in New House's warehouse before being shipped to blind makers who will skillfully turn it into blinds.

This is the action-end of one of Almedahls blackout fabric coating lines where they carefully apply a thin layer of acrylic onto the fabric before heat-setting it in a computer controlled stenter.

The end product is a beautiful well-made textile product for your home. Whether it is a blind for your window or a gorgeous table cloth, New House and Almedahls have worked together for so many years that we are confident that the design and quality will always be excellent.
