This Summer why not treat yourself to some gorgeous new tea towels?
We have some great reinterpritations of classic Marianne Westman historical designs in stunning clean modern colours that will help give your kitchen a new look.
Marianne Westman is one of Sweden's most famous post-war designers and it must be true, that almost everyone in Scandinavia has something in their house designed by her.
She created her original Picknick design (below) in 1954 for the Swedish porcelain company Rosenthal. It shows an abstracted, typical Swedish summer picnic and it became so popular that the design was quickly used on all sorts of kitchen and household products. Almedahls took it up and have printed this lovely design on textiles since the 50's and it has been in constant production ever since.
The latest tea towels in our summer collection, take elements of Marianne Westman's design and place the motifs on backgrounds of contemporary colour. These up-dates of this well-known design work perfectly and make a great contemporary addition to anyone's modern kitchen, yet are rooted in a classic period of design.
Other Marianne Westman designs have been up-dated too, such as her subtly rebelious 'against the flow' tea towel. In this design a shoal of fish are heading one way, yet a few subversives are going the other...
Another great New Summer tea towel would be our bright geraniums drying up cloth. With the summer bursting with bright flowers, maybe it is time to bring a little garden colour into your kitchen with these lovely designs?
Kitchen sink drama with a tea towel is always such an easy way to freshen up your most important room in the house, and these new tea towels are just the ticket for this Summer!
