Squid textile window film

SQUID may be an unusual name for a product - but then it is a rather unusual product!

Developed in Belgium by a weaver, who wanted to help his son who was studying at university but complained about glare and lack of privacy from his accommodation windows. He wasn’t permitted to drill holes or fit a blind, so his father experimented with fabrics he was weaving at his plant and with adhesives.

He came up with SQUID, a new type of textile film that can be used on all window types. It is easy to apply, allows you see out but stops people looking in during the day and can be peeled off the glass later without a trace.

Woven from polyester to create an elegant linen-like look, SQUID lets natural light pass to give the room a warm soft feel. Available in transparent and opaque qualities, it is simple to maintain, is FR, meets Oeko-tex standards and is suitable for any interior. It can also be laser-cut and printed on, so company logos or designs can be incorporated.

SQUID features two layers of adhesives. The first being low tack, so the fabric can be positioned on the glass and peeled off until the position is correct. The second layer is pressure-sensitive, so when pressed firmly with a plastic squeegee tool, the adhesive is activated and forms a strong bond onto the glass.

It is also moisture and heat resistant, effective up to 60°C and works well in areas of high humidity such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and garages.

SQUID can block heat from the sun. There is no air gap between the sun-resistant material and the glass, so depending on colour, the fabric can reflect up to 25%-36% of the sun's energy. Other tests have shown SQUID can reduce temperature by up to 3°C.

It has also been tested against strong solar radiation and 99% humidity in laboratory settings, and under both SQUID excelled with adhesive strength unaffected.

SQUID is available in opaque and transparent grades and six stylish colours. Its versatility, minimalist style and simple installation allow it to be used anywhere, especially in awkward places where fitting a conventional blind might be difficult.
