Swedish Plain is the cotton roller blind fabric that is the forerunner of all modern window blind cloths.This traditional fabric can trace it's history back 150 years to when textile manufacturers in Sweden first started impregnating cotton fabric with potato starch as a stiffener and putting it through heavy calander rollers to make it smooth. They realized it rolled up well, so was perfect for window blinds.Today we use a modern coating rather than starch, but in all other respects this fabric is the same as as was made all those years ago. Still made in Sweden, this lovely matte white cotton fabric is perfect for period homes or for anyone who enjoys the traditional look.
